THEY have to WANT to stop and even then, it's a tough road ahead. Addiction's no joke. They have to WEAN their bodies off the junk and go into withdrawals which can be very violent on the body and then they have to work with professional counselors and fellow ex-addicts who know where they've been as inspiration to NOT go back and slide into the drugs again. It becomes a LIFELONG struggle NOT to go back. But it all starts with the addict realizing they've hit bottom and enough's enough.

coming from someone that is 2 years clean and lost everything that is important to me. My husband of 32 years, my home, my life style, my children (part time ). I been divorced 1 year march 06 and I am still totally distraught of not being with the man that my heart belongs to. What's helping me when I get so low that I consider suicide is that I remember that good has came out of this, with God's help. So a desire to "know" God and to truly turn your problems over to him, he will see you through. I posted my sad story tonight under divorce, you or who ever this is, have a read, hopefully it will see what drugs do to us sooner or later. It took a FREIGHT train to hit me head on before I did something about it. I went to rehab in Fredricksburg for a 28 day program at a place called Serenity House and I strongly recommend this place. It's stern but if you have the desire they can definitely give you the tools. There are interventions available to you that will help someone get help. I truly wish the best and I will say a pray. God is good.

You go to Al-a-non and find out how to quit ENABLING them to continue.
This may mean cutting them out of your life, but it might be the only way to get them to get help.
They must ADMIT to themselves they have a problem or they'll never stop.

You can't. You can give them information on rehab places, you can let them know you'll be there when they're ready to stop using, but you can't stop them. They have to do that for themselves.
