Just wanted to get the female and/or general moviegoers response to it.

Kim, I remember in that old school 1989 Batman movie too that Joker was the one who killed Bruce's parents, but that was just made up for the movie to give Bruce motivation to stop the Joker and have a personal vendetta against him. That's something Tim Burton, the director came up with. The guy who made this new Batman movie used the same dude who killed Bruce Wayne's parents from the comics. He stayed a lot more faithful to the comics and didn't twist them to serve a plot line. Begins is supposed to be a new start as if to say the other 4 movies never existed.

I was very relieved that they gave up on the cartoonish and mocking style that the later Batman movies had developed. The execs didn't realize that the reason the first Batman movies were a hit was that they took the character and story seriously. Even kids respond to the mythology and drama of the story, while adults won't show up for an action flick with nothing more to offer. And, from what I think is a female perspective; I know there's a belief that most guys, or boys, require chase scenes and explosions to keep their interest. I know that I'm the opposite. My mind wanders during action scenes, while I'm riveted by story and character development. I don't know how real this difference is, but I would think guys would be embarrassed by this generalization. Anyway, I thought it was great. The martial arts stuff went on a bit long,... but I'm looking forward to a sequel.

It was okay. I found it to be a bit boring, and way too long. They could have cut half the movie out and I would have been happy, especially since a lot of the scenes felt unnecessary. I figured that the average male would not like it as much since there was less action, but I seem to be wrong, since most males I know enjoyed it more than the females I know.

The first two Batman movies were much better.

Ok I liked the movie (I didn't really love it though). The scene where the flash back to where Joker killed batman's parents bugged me because in the original Batman, Joker says before he kills them "have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light?" the most important line in the movie since that's how Batman found out who Joker really was. In Batman Begins, he doesn't say the line. Other than that I liked the movie.

I thought the movie provided a much better insight/ backstory to the history & origins of how Bruce Wayne got to be the caped crusader.
And on a personal level, Christian Bale was H-O-T. He's probably the best looking Batman, ever aside from Val Kilmer.

I thought that it was fine...I like how they make Bruce Wayne seem more realistic in this film and not such a "comic book hero". I liked how for years the origin of Wayne's transition into becoming the caped crusader has just been dabbled on but in this film someone actually explains it.

I thought this was the best Batman movie ever, it's interesting to watch a 'different' aspect of Batman, ie how he finds his identity, etc. And also somehow the portrayal of Batman is not as corny as the previous Batman movies ... like Batman & Robin.

... and partly because I also agree with ViRg() above that Christian Bale is hot! :))
