Cheney was much louder than Bush about saying that Saddam Hussein supported al-Qaeda. However, Bush did openly agree with these statements.
Here is a quote from Bush, and it can be found on the article I posted below::
"We did say there were numerous contacts between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda... The reason I keep insisting that there was a relationship between Iraq and Saddam and al Qaeda [is] because there was a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda," the president said.

NO he did not say that Saddam Hussein had an thing to do with the 9/11 attack he said that S H was a threat to America and he was.S H had to go, two aircraft carriers that were tied up watching S H are now free to take care of things like china if they need to. that is one good thing about the fall of Hussein.

Bush may not be the brightest... but he's not that stupid... that I know of...
everyone on here that says that it did have something to do with 9-11 should learn from their fearless leader...
There were some very heavy handed things done during the last Republican presidential convention... like Giuliani talking about 9-11 and then talking about Iraq and the war on terror all together, not directly linking the two, but giving strong indications that the two were related...

i may stand corrected on this??but to my knowledge i don't believe they ever came right out and said they were connected. now that being said a whole lot of implying went on @ the same time. remember the speech condi rice gave about wmd and 9/11 and the mushroom cloud scare tactic??? this was a well orchestrated attempt to scare and fool people into believing something. and for the most part it worked on 51% of the americans that voted for bush. these are the same fools that buy a used car just because the sales person implies it is a CREAM PUFF!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, he did numerous times because he was asked numerous time. Assuming that you would want documentation, I just did the research and will mention the most interesting.
Report from the 911 commission; Bush said " Osama bi Laden explored possible cooperation with Iraq during his time in Sudan, despite his opposition to Saddam secular regime. The contact was pushed by the Sudanese to protect their own ties with Iraq after bin Laden asked for space in Iraq for training camps."
Cnn (2002) Bush made stronger statements alleging cooperation between Iraq and al Qaeda"Iraq has trained al Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and deadly gases. I always said Saddam was a threat because he provided a safe haven for terrorist like Abu Musab and Zarqawi.
CNN Politics (2004) When reporters asked why he insisted that Saddam and al Qaeda had a relationship yet, deny that Saddam was responsible for 911 Bush replied, "The reason I keep insisting is because they was relationship between Saddam and al Qaeda. We did say that there were many contacts between Saddam Iraqi intelligence and al Qaeda. Saddam had connections with organizations considered by the US to be terror groups--including Abu Nidal.
Cnn Politics (june 2004) "Cheney said that the evidence is "overwhelming that al Qaeda had a relationship with Saddam's regime in Iraq. he said that media reports suggesting that the 911 commission has reached a contradictory conclusion were "irresponsible , it goes all the way back to the 1990s and involves a whole series of contacts with Osama bin Laden." However, members of the 911 commission found no credible evidence that Iraq was involved in the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks carried out by al Qaeda hijackers. There is no relationship between Saddam and al Qaeda or bin Laden. Bush and Cheney called the reporting "lazy" and are strongly disputing the commission's conclusion that there were no Iraqi fingerprints on the 911 attacks" Later statements made by Bush now contradicts those he made earlier. When asked to explain the contradiction Bush replied, "I never said that the 911 attacks were orchestrated with Iraq's help. I said there wer contact. The commission didn't do their job.

Wednesday :: Sep 17, 2003 Bush back down on Saddam/9-11 link Creates criminal problems that's precisely what Bush mentioned in writing to Congress: March 18, 2003: expensive Mr. Speaker: (expensive Mr. President:) consistent with section 3(b) of the Authorization for use of militia rigidity against Iraq determination of 2002 (Public regulation 107-243), and in keeping with advice available to me, consisting of that interior the enclosed checklist, I determine that: (a million) reliance by making use of america on extra diplomatic and different non violent potential on my own will neither (A) effectively shield the nationwide protection of america against the continued threat posed by making use of Iraq nor (B) in all probability bring about enforcement of all proper United international locations protection Council resolutions pertaining to to Iraq; and (2) performing pursuant to the form and Public regulation 107-243 is consistent with america and different international locations continuing to take the needed strikes against worldwide terrorists and terrorist businesses, consisting of those international locations, businesses, or persons who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist assaults that took place on Sept. 11, 2001. truly, GEORGE W. BUSH yet in the present day, Bush says that: "there is no question that Saddam Hussein had al-Qaida ties," the president mentioned. yet he additionally mentioned, "we haven't any evidence that Saddam Hussein replace into in contact with the Sept. 11" assaults. The failure to locate any drawing close WMD threat has now negated Article a million of the reason Bush used above. in the present day he says he has no evidence that Saddam replace into in contact in Sept. 11(while on March 18 he says he did have such evidence), which then negates Article 2 of his legislatively-required justification for conflict as defined under PL 107-243 Excuse me, yet doesn’t this propose he lied to conform with the provisions of PL 107-243? And is that no longer an impeachable offense? Bush lied to Congress to get us right into a conflict, and he now admits it.

not to my knowledge.
However it was learned that he had met with members of Al qaida and given support to them.
I can't confirm this but I recently heard someone say they remember saddam proclaiming that he would be willing to harbor usama bin ladin in a taunt to the U.S. after 9/11 but I don't personally recall that.
