doomed to failure. LOTR just can't be made a musical.

All homosexual innuendo aside (which is always laughable), this trilogy is a good remedy for insomnia. The whole story consists of taking a ring to be destroyed. It takes three movies to do this???!! We KNOW IT'S GONNA HAPPEN so what's with all the hoopla? Kinda reminds me of another big budget fallacy called "titanic". THE SHIP SINKS!!!! I accept that...so what's with the 2 hour development?

The boredom boils down to BRITISH LITERATURE AND FILMMAKING! *Yawn* The only Americans who respect this EULOGY are the same dry witted ppl who worship Monty Python and the number 42.

What's worse...are there any memorable lines ANYWHERE IN THE 3 MOVIES? It's all subjective private conversation for the most part...no one-liners for the masses to espouse and turn into cultural soundbites!! If I had to sum this trilogy up in one sentence it would be: "FRODO..frodo..FRODO..frodo..FROOOODOOOO!!!" *Aigh*

The biggest blunder: WE NEVER SEE SAURON! We only get to see his eye and hear his voice?!?! This guy is sooo powerful and destructive..YET HE NEVER MATERIALIZES?! If all his power was based on an elusive ring..this guy really didn't have his priorities straight! At least in the "Wizard of Oz" we got to see the man of mystery unshroud himself...and that movie was made 65 YEARS AGO! *geeeze*

These movies were overbudgeted and over-hyped. I've seen better flicks on the Sundance Channel.

I read an article describing it in Time magazine, and it sounds like it will be pretty good. It's not being done in a silly way that would offend fans, and they're using styles of music that give it depth. Unfortunately, it has to be cut by a lot, but that's unavoidable. I would see it, if it came to Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

If it's the same production as the one in Toronto, Ben Brantley of the NEW YORK TIMES didn't like it.
