The water meter should have a shut off valve on the city side of the meter(emergency cut off) Most meters output (customer side) have a 1" or 3/4" female slip joint. If yours is 1" you will need a 1" gasket or o ring a 1" male; a reducer to 3/4" a small piece of 1" pvc,a small piece of 3/4" pvc pipe; a 3/4"male pvc and a hose bib.(or you can put a ball valve before the 3/4" male)(a hose is same as 3/4"npt thread) some teflon tape and a small can of glue (pvc) If you'll look at your meter (stick your thumb in it(if tight then 3/4" if loose then 1") write down the size and take it to a hardware store and tell them what you are doing they should fix you up...

I agree with first response. In most cities, it is illegal to connect to the main yourself. Usually the city requires you to be a licensed plumber and you have to obtain a permit. Some cities will connect it themselves. Some codes will not let you connect a hose to the meter, it has to be a rigid pipe.

only the city water department can connect to a main water line, they also will install a water meter if one doesnt exist, if you do it yourself you could go to jail for tapping the water supply, the connection from the meter to your trailer needs a cutoff valve a ball valve is best as it is 1/4 turn on and off
