Contemporary art has a trend to be more concept-based. The style of contemporary art and music is so different from those earlier artists. Plus, current artists are current. We do not yet know what we will think of them in even 30 years, and part of what established these people's names was their place in history. Also, we do not have any widely accepted authorities that can deem this person the next "mozart/picasso/michealangelo." Just because one art critic from an off-beat newspaper hails the person as a new master, doesn't mean that society in general accepts this idea.

Because it's TODAY. Who's to say that in twenty, or fifty years from now, there won't be many of todays artists hailed as The Greatest of this generation? I often think I know a few whose work will outlive them. (And, hopefully, put my great grandchildren thru' grad school!)

there really dosnt seem to be any or much demand for piano music. plus most people find it alot easier to strum a guitar and bang on a drum set. i play almost everything and the piano is the hardest to create music on. Although i'm inspired by Yanni and i would love to play like him
