I use it. I'm african american and it works great on me. I bought mine off of QVC. I get so many compliments on natural looking and great my skin looks. Maybe your using too much. Remember to tap the brush and a little goes a long way.

It is unusual that you look shiny after using the basic foundation products. They do offer a mineral veil that does add a sheen to your skin. Perhaps you are using too many of their products on your face. I absolutely love their make up. When my Mother was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for breast cancer her oncologist recommended mineral make up to her. That's how I came to try it myself. All the cosmetic companies are trying to play catch up now, the world discovered mineral make up and all the manufacturers are trying to stay in the race. I think maybe you should double check what product you are using, the application etc.

bare minerals didn't do much for my skin...i have the same problems with you- too shiny. They need to have more than one kind of formula for different skintypes. However, my friend wears this religiously and it makes her skin flawless... I guess it's a matter of trial and error seeing what works for you and what doesn't.
I found something much better and a lot cheaper... everyday minerals. They have three formulas- matte, semi-matte and the original glo. The coverage is sooo nice and much more affordable.

I use Bare Essentials/Minerals and it works just fine. Actually, it's the only make-up that I can use. Did someone say it made their face "shiny"? Wow, that's strange because it doesn't shine on me. I agree with the other person that said that you might be wearing too much.

My mom had some she let me try. She loved it. We are white. I just know that they say it is natural and my face broke out (not in zits) but a rash for 2 days.

I didn't have a problem with the coverage or even the color, but the mica in it itched the hell out of me!
