Macs are great I tell you.

I have been using Mac for more than 12 years now. For the last 3 years I've also been using a PC (w/ windows OS) only because of some softwares I like that aren't available for Mac OS. But I would always prefer using a Mac anytime anywhere. One more thing besides the fabulous Mac OS, Mac hardwares are very reliable and durable.

You run your windows games on a Mac by booting your Mac using windows OS and then run the game.

Apple technology brings World Cup updates to millions
By Jim Dalrymple

Chances are if you’re watching highlights from the FIFA World Cup matches on television, you are seeing Apple technology hard at work. Highlights from the world’s most popular sport are being prepared using multiple Apple products and technologies.

The biggest of the television networks using Apple products is the Host Broadcast Service (HBS), which is a collection of production groups brought together specifically for the 2006 World Cup. From its master control center to the dozens of cameras at each match, the production team is responsible for everything from managing the feeds coming back to the Munich headquarters to quickly delivering highlights to mobile phones within minutes of the action happening on the field. ....

Mac commercials make you think that PC's are bulky, repetitive, and way behind. What's ironic is that Apple recently ditched IBM -- the decade-long manufacturer of their CPU technology. They switched to Intel and the "x86" platform. So much for being unique and innovative. The move admitted that they are chasing the PC.

The truth is that there is nothing a Mac can do that a PC can't.

Though Macs are generally better out of the box and easier to use, by no means are they more powerful. How can they be now, especially if at the very core you have a PC component (the x86 CPU)? Plus, if a Mac breaks down, good luck repairing it yourself. Most of what makes up a Mac is proprietary. With a PC, it's the complete opposite. That's the other side of the story you don't hear a lot about. It gets expensive buying parts straight from Apple.

Especially now that Macs have changed their platform to become more like a PC, what reason is there anymore to have this debate? The only thing left to discuss is the Mac OS vs. Windows. Since the hardware is nearly identical, why pay for a system that goes out of its way to restrict you from modifying it? The PC is the way to go if you want the power to customize. There are more upgrade options at a lower cost.

Nothing against Mac's overall - I just think they're a pretty package with hidden maintenance costs.

** update **

Once you move past comparing the hardware, Macs do seem to have a bright future. Although I would still go with a PC at this point, Apple has a lot of multimedia editing applications that are already fine-tuned for systems with multiple processors. When all the bugs are finally hammered out so that everything runs smoothly in the x86 architecture, getting a Mac with dual-CPU's would be a great option for the audio/video enthusiast.

Macs are superior, especially for students. For price, they are not that expensive. Compare all of the features of a MacBook, and then try pricing a Dell that matches those same specs. You will find the prices are not far off, especially when you factor in Apple's student discount. Mac hardware is rocksolid, and getting repairs is easy. You can just go to any Apple store and get knowledgabe in store help and repairs. Where can you go for a PC? Best Buy or Circuit City? Those people know nothing. Mac are in fact more secure and stable becuase the have a fantastic operating system based on UNIX. Windows still uses DOS. To give you an idea, all servers and computers that must stay up and running at all costs uses system based on UNIX. And, as you mentioned, Macs can run Windows. So, you can run 100% of all available software, including your Sims game. Just go to an Apple store, play around with a Mac, and get some one to show you the features. Then go back home and try to do the equivalent on your PC. The choice will be easy.

On your decision about the Dell or a Mac, it depends on a few things. If you are pretty intelligent with computers, then i don't think that it matters a whole lot. Dells are much easier for beginners. People buy Macs because they think that Microsoft is too much of a monopoly. I agree that they are, but with all of the money that they make they do have pretty good technology. You don't see windows wanting to run a Mac operating system. But yes, your game for windows would work on the Mac if it had a windows operating system. I say go Dell

macs look really cool and are really good with music and pictures. But as someone mentioned, it is not more powerful than a PC. Gaming is one of the big reasons why you would go for a PC. PCs are very customizable hardware wise, which the MAC is lacking.

On the other hand, MACs can be a fairly good choice if you limit your gaming and don't intend to mess with your hardware. It looks really nice and usually cleaner (less wires hanging all over the place). Also generally speaking, there is a lot less viruses and spywares written for the MAC, so we can assume it is safer until the market for MACs become significant and ppl start building malignent software for it.

I would put forth two items:

1) Mac computers with an Intel processor and a Radeon X1600 videocard actually runs Windows faster than a Dell at the same price point. A 15" MacBook Pro will not leave you disappointed when it comes to performance and stability.

2) Don't trust advice from someone who gives you an opinion about Macs but spells it in all uppercase like it is an acronym.

PC and Mac are better for certain kinds of users.
Those who have little computer knowledge and expiriance are better suited with a Mac, since they are really hard to mess up and are simple to use. But in return, you're confined to limited access to what your computer does.
For those who know what they are doing, PC is much better. You get more power, software compatibility, and freedom to customize than you do with a mac. But there is the great risk of doing something wrong and ruining everything, especially for the inexpirianced.
I prefer PC. I've used Macs at school, and they seem like dumbed down versions of PCs. I also play games on my computer, something Macs are rubbish at. Plus that rainbow wheel thing and one button mouse get on my nerves.

Pc's are better than macs. Macs have expensive hardware that you can only get one brand of replacement hardware while pc's have any hardware you want. PC's can run about 80% of software out there and macs i'd say about 30%. But don't get a dell. They are expensive and their hardware is bad. Plus they have a lot of junk preloaded on their computers.

I made the switch to Mac about 2 years ago, and it's the best decision I made. I would highly recommend a Mac to anyone.

Besides, you can now run both Mac OSX *AND* Windows XP on a Mac with the free Bootcamp program (available from Apple).
