I have a friend that is trying to run away from her home. She is 16 and has a job set up to go to and a place already to stay. She also is getting it set up to go to school where she is running away to. Would she get forced to go back home if she did run away?

She isn't going to be living on the streets, but yes she is being abused. The problem she runs into is that her mom knows LOTS of people. She had a brain tumour that went away, but the medicine she got put on made her delusional. She no longer takes any of these medications, but her mom threatens to have her stuck in institutions. She cant anyone else to believe that her mom is this way, and the people who do know, cant do much, if anything about it. Would there be bad-happenings if someone were to help her get out?

Her mom knows people in protective services, and judges, and cops in the area. It wouldnt do any good. No, she isnt going out of state, but she is moving aproximately 200 miles away from her original home. And thanks everyone for the goodluck wishes.

Yep, we have 'em here, too!

Seriously, about your friend, no, she would probably not be forced to go home however, she'd then end up in juve, where they'd charge her family $$$ to house her each night.

Tell her to endure if possible her current situation until she's 17. Most jurisdictions don't look for runaways that are 17 or over.

But let me say, one former run-away to a potential run-away. Life on the street is no place to be. If she's running away because someone is abusing her, she needs to do something about that and she can get assistance in leaving her home. If she's running away because she doesn't want to put up with BS at home, BS is everywhere and the BS at home, in most cases, is not nearly as bad as the BS on the streets.
