One good example would be Louis Vuitton. People pay hundreds of dollars to get a leather bag because of its timeless design that last. You can buy one around your mid 20s, and still can use it in your 40s. Provided its well taken care of.
I would say depends on what branded item you buy. If it's clothes - quality ,design and as well as how long you foresee you'll wear it could be considerations to keep in mind.
I think would be more expensive to get a tailor made clothes. Unless you know of place where they have good craftsmanship and low prices

the actual brand itself doesn't make the product any better, but more of the values that's associated with the brand that let you derive tangible benefits. For example, most branded products use better quality material, have better workmanship, latest technology, a more comprehensive warranty program, which somewhat explains the higher price.

You have to check the price vs. quality. If an expensive name brand is made of low quality material, then find another product with a higher quality.

If its a good brand and it looks good on you, but its expensive, look for another one thats similar, but for less, no matter the brand. No, the brand isn't quality wise, its more popularity andexpense wise. I think you should have a tailor make one, cuz then it would be your own, custom, and no one would have it!

I prefer non-branded. When things have name brands on them that means they are usually popular clothing which means that everyone can go out and get the exact same thing you are wearing. I prefer to have exclusive designs and clothes which is part of the reason that I make my own clothes, I don't like for everyone to look like me :)

I'd rather have it tailor made. But some people don't just want quality. They want to buy the brand equity as well! It reflects on their status, they style, their strut. And for those intangible glory, they pay.

I have a very hard time understanding the mentality behind people spending outrageous amount of money for clothes. $3000 for ANYTHING to wear is ridiculous. There isn't a dress, pair of pants, pair of shoes, a shirt, jeans, bra, panties, etc,etc that would be worth $3000 in my eyes. That is INSANE. Paying that for a NAME?!?! Sheesh, leaves me speechless.

Some things are fine if they are not branded. Other items you can tell if you paid more for it. Handsbags must be a brand. Jeans and tops no. Shoes yes. Make-up no. Food, it depends on the item.

well I think the non branded one is better if its the exact same thing you are looking for, except cheaper, but sometimes the branded stuff is "specially made" and there is (practically) no way of unspecialling it..lol.
