Natural cycles were a minor factor.

It doesn't take much of an average temperature change to have a big impact. I thought everyone knew that.

Somehow a conservative managed to bring religion into the issue...how typical

As partisan and insulting a statement (not even question) as that is, there are a few aspects to be addressed when discussing global warming.

Global warming is the term used to describe how the average temperature of the planet is going up. No one denies that the temperature is, in fact, going up. Therefore, no one denies that global warming is a fact.

However, according to studies of Antarctic ice, the average temperature of the planet has been rising for 6,000 years, which is well before the Industrial Revolution of 150 years ago. This proves that global warming is not caused by man. In that time, however, the rate of temperature rise has increased, which means that the actions of humanity probably has worsened the situation.

The critical facts about global warming are these:

What are the effects of global warming going to be, and how can we prepare for them? Currently, no model of global atmospheric projection has shown itself to accurately predict to any degree the general weather patterns of the Earth (such as the number and ferocity of hurricanes). Until we come up with an accurate way of predicting the effects of global warming, preparing for them will be difficult and based upon conjectures, which are a difficult sell to taxpayers.

What can be done to limit the effect of humanity on global warming in the future WITHOUT putting a major damper on economic growth and development, especially in developing nations? For example, all nations could agree to stop driving vehicles that use internal combustion engines, but to do so at once would devastate the economies of many nations. However, other options, such as diverting tax funds to subsidize the development of alternative-energy propulsion for vehicles, would accelerate the advent of such earth-friendly technology.

All in all, because of the massive stakes involved when discussing global warming (and the subsequent misinformation flying around about it), many people are confused as to the facts about it. I was hoping to be as informative and unbiased as possible.

Please let me know what you think!

You speak as an expert on the topic, I'm sure.

The question is not only whether global warming exists, but also

a) is it the result of human activity?

and

b) Is there anything that we can do about it.

For example, the much discussed Kyoto protocols, at the most optimistic estimate, only claims that it will decrease the increase in temperature by 0.28 degrees by 2050. The more pessimistic numbers have it decreasing the increase in temperature by 0.02 degrees by 2050. Not very impressive, considering the cost of implementing it.

From a religious standpoint: What does the Holy Bible say about all that? Give be Biblical or physical proof. Or post where I can look it up on the net. I don't know much about that topic, but I'm willing to learn.
If you believe in evalution and all that jazz, it's easier to believe, but I don't. According to evolution, which is based on Darwin's theory (whom he himself admitted was just a theory), miliions and millions or years ago...if preople were just monkeys, who was there to document what was happening.
I know that I didn't give an answer, but there wasn't much to answer. It's obvious that you think that anyone that doesn't believe it is real is an idiot. Ok, great, you have stated your opinion. I try to be less objective and more polite in my comments.

as i sit here in Tacoma Washington, a spot that used to be under 5000 feet of ice in the last ice age, i can only wonder what mans influence was to thaw that glacier. global warming may be real. but only a democrat is stupid enough to think man has anything to do with it.

I think the main thing that people are arguring about is not whether or not the planet is warming but whether or not man had anything to do with it.
