in my opinion the penalty kick shouldn't been called...some reason there are too many refs calling bad calls in different games..for ex: alot of yellow cards and red cards

and yes i agree too about that the coach decisions was horrible and but if it was not called it would of been 1 to 1...and only be left for usa to just have atleast 1 goal...and defend so ghana would not have one...so the usa all they could of been thinking is just that we just need 1 more goal to move on and there spirits would of been different..but since that pk... they needed atleast 2...but anywayz the usa team was in my opnion poorly managed and i dont think they had players in their comfortable positions...the players just just went downhill from the beginning..with czech republic and with italy ...and last ghana...so they didnt really show up as expected

Yes definitely. There was no foul that I saw and the goal that resulted from the penalty kick changed the game completely. Had the referee made the right call the game would have played out differently. I agree with you about too may referees using bad judgement in making calls. It was a bad call that kept Mastrioni (?) and Pope out of the game vs. Ghana because of the match against Italy.

Most definitly. Not only did it put Ghana up a goal, but it absolutely killed the US' spirits. Knowing that they may have their World Cup dreams crushed by a ref's mistake did not help their confidence nor encourage them to play harder.

It felt like it didnt matter what they did, since the ref's calls would, in the end, define the outcome of the game.

And this attitude is the worst possible thing a ref can create in a game.

which is not to say that the US would have won if the PK had not happened, but the game would have at least been decided by the players, not the ref.

no, the penalty kick did not change the direction of the game, in fact the USA side should have more players sent off for their rough tackling, shirt pulling and tricks which hurt Draman and Pimpong.
I would say the Ghana side's determination and spirit won the game and USA's over confidence on Ghana lost the game for USA. Too bad, the dream team's gonna have to dream another 4 years for the next world cup. HAIL GHANA!!!!! I say Ghana will make it to Quarter Finals minimum!!!!

If anything Ghana would have been pushed to score the winning goal. It slowed things down for both teams, but if you think about it, their goal was really a mistake from the defender (ie not from their attacking skills). I mean it would have been really embarrassing to NOT score that. Ghanas goal was from skill, one guy took on the defender and he was worth his weight in gold for Ghana.

Amatureish mistakes from the US team also showed their weakness. Would have been really sad for Ghana to NOT make it past the US..

Also, let us not forget that a tie would have left the US behind as well, so in either case, US was out.

Yes...I believe it did and that it was a BullSH*t call, but then again, the US goal could have been called offside too. But as one commentator put it...moving on to the Round of 16 means much more to the people of Ghana than to the people of the US.

Could have, would have, should have,, didn't change a thing,,you lost and good riddance we no longer have to put up with your inferior and arrogant opinions in a sport you neither understand or fully support stick to baseball world series played amongst yourselves,, one thing for sure your world ranking should be seriously looked at,, considering Ghana was rated around 50,, and you recon Australia suck give me a break.

here we go here we go,, actually your ignorance is showing just a little,, Australia actually have been world champions in many sports,, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Tennis (Davis Cup), Swimming, Cricket, Surfing, Sailing, Lawn Bowles, Womens Netball, Aerial Sking, say no more nudge nudge wink wink..

The PK changed everything in fact and frustrated the US team.

It definitely changed the game. It was a terrible call...there was basically no contact made and certainly shouldn't be called in the box. That said, the US team shouldn't let stuff like that affect them that way and they clearly got beat in the 2nd half.

it was HORRIBLE! It really sucked the life out of the U.S. team and definitely made a difference in the team spirit and motivation.

There seems to be a lot of bad calls against the U.S. team in the World Cup this year-- coincidence?

even if the penalty kick wouldnt have been called, a tie would have left them disqualified, and even if they had won they needed help from other teams, and then they had to count the goals scored and against, so almost in any event, the chances were almost nil.

If you don't have a playmaker, you rarely get good service to the forwards; if forwards fail to get clear-cut chances, they can't shoot on goal; if you can't shoot on goal, you don't score; if you don't score, you don't win; if you don't win, you don't advance.
