Alright my b/f promised me that when we dated for a certain amount of time that he would propose. We talked about it all the time we even picked out my ring and everything. Then two months go by, past the date he promised to propose, and the next thing I know he's saying he or "we" aren't ready. I mean what happened to promises? Do I move on past the issue and just think positive, or should I just dump him and find someone who keeps their promises, or what??

Who knows? Maybe you guys really aren't ready to get engaged. There's alot of pressure on couples when they get engaged. People EXPECT that you're getting married pretty soon and they want to know a date and they want to know what you're planning for the wedding. It sounds like your man shouldn't have promised something that he wasn't sure about. It's unfair to say that "by this date we will get engaged" because things happen. It doesn't necessarily mean that he doesn't want to get engaged, it just means what he said, you guys aren't ready. Maybe there's financial reasons behind that. But a really good solution to this problem (because I know you are disappointed) is if your boyfriend still wants to get engaged and married in the future....he should buy you a promise ring. My boyfriend and I have been together for four years and we're not ready to get engaged or married yet either. But a promise ring lets you and your friends and family know that you guys are planning to get married one day, just not right now. I wear my promise ring on my left ring finger like an engagement ring and I'm very happy with it. I think you would be too. Sit tight dear, you'll get married one day.
