I have been to Myrtle Beach several times....help me sway my friends toward Hilton Head. What wonderful things can we do there? Hotel ideas, on the ocean? Landmarks? Interesting places? Trivia? Must see things??

Hilton Head, Myrtle - gosh, the whole South Carolina coast has a bazillion islands!

There's Frogmore, where there used to be a college; Parris, where the Marine Corps trains recruits; and a lot of small towns with local charm and flavor. Down south, you have Charleston and the whole savannah area (all the way to Savannah) - up north, you can round the bend toward Wilmington, NC, taking in Holden Beach, Oak Island, and little towns like Supply to add color to your trip.

Bottom line: Hilton Head is a tourist trap with little to offer except golf. The small towns, though, are a blast. Finding yourself in a dockside grocery store having a moon pie and a Nehi grape beats the heck out of hoity toity champagne on the links anytime.

Hilton Head is mainly a golf resort. If you're after men that's the place; however, if you're married or just looking for fun Myrtle Beach is better. It has both hot spots for the younger crowd, but also things to do for the older crowd like concerts, dancing, etc.

I am all about Myrtle Beach anytime. More to do for those who haven't been and always something new for me too. And it is easier on the budget that HHI.

Are you just thinking of yourself, and not thinking of your friends? Maybe you could go further south to Savannah or Charleston or Jacksonville, or further north to Wilmington or the Outer Banks. -- or still farther north ot Virginia Beach. -- maybe it would be a good experience for everyone, without anyone being unhappy.
