I've run a full system scan, everything came out fine, but it is still super slow. Any suggestions?

go to start, control panel, internet options, delete files, delete cookies, clear history..........go to ccleaner.com run the cleaner and the registry cleaner.....

now go to start, all programs, accesories, system tools, disk defragmenter, click defragment....BE PATIENT DO NOT INTERUPT DISK DEFRAGMENTER......the end result will speed up your computer.....

also get rid of any programs running in the background that you do not need...you can keep them from starting up by going to start, run, type in "msconfig" without the quotation marks, click the startup tab and uncheck any uneeded programs, making sure to leave the one labeled "sstray" without the quotation marks.

Get a lock for your computer -- ever heard of one? I would also suggest that if your brother is looking at sites and spyware has inadvertently attached itself, you should be doing a major cleaning of all your folders, programs and drives in your computer out once a week using a disc cleaner program from McAfee or some well known virus cleaner. If you have AOL, you can get a virus prevention scanner installed from them to go through your files quickly at a certain time every day (mine goes on around 5 or 6 am every day when I'm normally not on) as an extra preventive measure.

Hey in order to resolve this issue, please delete the cookies, temporary files and if possible run a anti-virus scan.

To delete the cookies, open Internet Explorer, go to Tool>Internet options, click on delete cookies and delete files.

To delete the temporary Internet files, Click on Start, click on run.
In open field, type "%temp%" without quotes.
Then select all the files and delete all the files, it is expected that you will not be able to delete a few files, so dont bother about those files.

As I said, if possible run a scan for virus using some good anti-virus..

Hopefully, the issue will be resolved. Otherwise call Microsoft Technical support, they may provide you free technical support of call your laptop manufacturer.

Cheers...

I doubt it was porn causing the problem (unless he got a virus/spyware which I doubt).

Hit 'Control-Alt-Delete' all at the same time and then click 'Task Manager'. This will give you a listing of what's eating up your resources in terms of CPU usage.

You can also go to Start-Run and type in 'msconfig'...return. This will bring up a window where you can click on the 'Startup' tab and see what's starting up with your machine. You can uncheck things you don't want to start up, and that can help performance too.

Reinstall Windows. When you bought your laptop, it should have a system recovery disc. Before doing that, be sure to save all necessary information. The disc will restore your computer as it first came out of the box -- good as new!

While your little brother was looking at porn, the pornographers were putting spyware on your system. Download Spybot and Adaware. Both are free.
