Political correctness is inevitable in a democracy, especially a multi-cultural one, democracy is all about different interest group peacefully competing for influence and material benefit, since it's peaceful, the majority will have no advantage, and since it's about competing, the group that are better organized will ultimately prevail,
because of its minority status and shared past unhappiness (like slavery) when there was no PC, minorities are often better organized and are often able to force the state to disproportionally reflect their view and their interest, by the way, the modern western education places too much emphasis on being nice, sensitive, caring, they seem to forget that human didn't rule this planet by playing nice, and western civilization wouldn't be so great has it been a nice, caring one.

Yes...it is also invading freedom of speech and thought. Over all political correctness has made culture and class more distinctive and separate. Why can't people just work from an individual basis, and why is it, if I think poorly of someone it is because they are a different culture race, creed or religion, why can't it be simply because the person is of poor character and morality (which is all that I really care about)? If i see someone breaking a law, or doing something I classify as poor taste, why is it if I say something about it, it is because I am discriminating on some sub-group of people that person just so happens to belong to. I could care less what your history, background, language, gender, or anything is. I only care what the hell you are doing and how it impacts my world, and if I say or think something because of your actions, I am being discriminative, and politically incorrect.

I don't think it's destroying society but it is making life unbearable. People sue others for the most asinine things. There needs to be a middle ground somewhere but the lawyers don't want that so the ACLU steps in any chance they get.

Yes.
We've lost it when we're more concerned about one individual getting offended by something and ignoring the rest of the populace.

Absolutely!! People make too much of a thing. Too much definition--- turning everything into more than what it really is. They take too much time debating and nit-picking.
They have too much time on their hands.
