I am transferring from a two-year college to Adelphi University in New York this fall (2006) to study nursing. The yearly tuition is $20,000 and I can't afford it without taking out a loan. I really don't want to take out a $40,000 loan. Are there any programs, organizations or foundations that can assist me financially? I have applied for scholarships and received $5,000 for the year but that is hardly enough to cover at least half of the tuition. I still need to pay for books and transportation. I will appreciate any information you can share.

Check out if there are any areas that need your skills, and maybe you will find a hospital or town to subsidize your study. In exchange they may require that you work for them for a specified amount of time. Look into the peace corps. Or if you are so inclined, the military. Ask the financial aid person at your school if they ahave any suggestions. Go to the library and look at the availalble scholarships. Scholarships are available, but you have to find them and fill out the required paperwork.

it particularly is totally uncommon, yet you're able to do it. My nephew have been given this (at North jap college), yet he had a diverse history than maximum, might desire to tell a solid tale showing how no longer trouble-free-working and desperate to get an training he became (no longer trouble-free for him, via non secular ideals of kinfolk). Plus whilst he did get to public college he did super and had solid (no longer super SATs). The scholarship (which secure room and board) renews each year as long as he keeps a undeniable GPA. i think of that essay you write is best. and ascertain you do a important sort of better stuff (volunteer artwork, a job, and so on). So besides - sure it is, yet do no longer anticipate it. and don't get your heart set on the 'college of your objectives'. to no longer be rude yet, it particularly is totally complicated to be attentive to which college may well be best for you. attempt a state college in case you don't get adequate money. yet do no longer no longer circulate to college on account which you're desperate to be debt unfastened. attempt for a debt that's clever based on the degree you will get ... and the envisioned sales you're able to make. there is likewise financial help - which will in all likelihood incorporate loans. in case you have finished particularly properly at college, i've got faith Princeton college might have financial help which does no longer incorporate loans. think of I examine that someplace, yet i may well be incorrect. Going someplace like which could additionally strengthen your sales once you get out.

How about grants, loans, and unclaimed scholorships. I payed for college schmoozing off of people that didn't use their scholorships and grants, and took out a 15 thousand dollar education loan from the government.

Hope this helps.
