Because we overthrew a repressive government and founded our own based on freedom for all. You are just an ignorant little punk for asking such a stupid question. We are better than everyone else. No other country has done so much for other people and given their citizen's so much power. If you don't agree with my statements, then think about moving somewhere else that you feel is better.

Tough question to answer but here goes. From Birth, all Americans are taught to think they are equals. From the CEO of a major Fortune 500 Company to a Janitor cleaning toilets, we are all equal. And that means that every American thinks he / she is the equivalent of the smartest, most successful person in this Nation. Now look at what the United States has contributed to the World during our relatively brief existence. Extraordinary gains in technology, business, science, health care, and on and on. And for years, the Worlds best and brightest immigrated to the United States to achieve these gains and others.
Think of it, the best and the brightest of other Nations immigrating to the United States means that they left behind lesser mortals in their homelands. And since all Americans think they are equal, as equal as the best of other lands who have moved here to our shores and left behind lesser men, Americans think they are better than everyone else.
Of course, you and I know it's not true but let Americans enjoy their little fantasy.

Aside from being a gross stereotype that some hold for Americans, you only need to look at our culture to know that is not true. A large number of "Americans" are busily identifyng themselves as African-American, Mexican-American, Asian-American, Phillipino-American...well, you get the point; if we had a superiority complex, wouldn't we merely identify as AMERICAN, without a subculture tacked on? Perhaps we need to develope a superiority complex so that like most other countries citizens, ours too would only claim one nationality!

That is a generalisation, and not being from the USA, I know several people who are, and don't think they're better. As for those who do feel like that, I think the reason is that they confuse economic power with human quality. But I insist, they are only SOME Americans.

I think that every country in the world is filled with people that think they are better than everyone else ~ not just Americans.
I have met Americans that are nice and down to earth. I have met Americans who think they are "God's greatest gift". I have also met Canadians, Portuguese and Italians that think the same way.
I honestly believe it is the way you were raised and not where exactly in the world you were raised.

because they've been led to believe that might makes right. Its a form of discrimination caused by wealth, and will disappear as soon as the us realizes they are just like everyone else on the planet. It would be sweet igf suddenly all the loans the us owes were called in at once. They would be broke.

Hahaha,
I think he got a point, but what can i say?
We all have rights to opinions and should not be shoved away. He spoke his mind and that's it. If he thinks that way, there is nothing anybody can do about that.
But, i must add this, there some people who think they are better and there are some who may not think that way, so its not all about what Americans think, its about what you think. Wheather you think Americans are better or not, its all up to you because if there's anybody that will affect, it is you.

When you have a government like the one in the USA then you got to ask yourself this --- Is it possible to change the stripes of a zebra -- then you will have your answer.
We look out for our self first and then if there is any time left over then we just might help you out.
