Elimination is based on BOTH solo and partner performing, AND what we don't get to see in auditions and exercises that never make it on the air (potential, as Nigel put it). It was really coincidence last week that both Stanislav and his partner Erin got kicked off at the same time.

The rules are that the three lowest couples (according to the audience vote) are in danger of getting kicked off. They then have to peform their "speciality" dance routine INDIVIDUALLY. The judges will then decide that one man and one woman will go home. So, if the woman of a pair does not perform well in her solo performance and her partner does perform well in his, she's the one that will go home -- not him. That means that another couple will also be split up (the male in that couple will be sent home) and the remaining man and woman from each couple will then team up for the next rounds.

Elimination depends on individual performance because if one partner danced well and the other didnt, it wouldnt be fair to eliminate both of them. The judges basically eliminate the worst girl/boy dancer regardless of patnership.
