To say San Francisco or California with all the people is Northern is a misnomer. that's CENTRAL California

Northern California is Shasta County or Humboldt County. For me, I think of the California REDWOODS...all the way to the Oregon border. A hot day at noon, under the umbrella of those GIANTS...a million years of redwood needles on the ground...(no footsteps)...= is a cool nap with nothing but June Bug chirping to lull you to sleep---especially after a cool dip in the Eel River. Ohhhhh man...I'm THERE.

The Redwoods, terrific shorelines, beautiful drives up Hwy 101 from San Francisco to the Oregon border. Elk herds and mountain lions, in both Humboldt and Del Norte County. Rivers, good hiking. Wide open spaces!

Besides the beautiful redwoods is the cold and damp from the fog, in the mornings amd evenings. I'd never been there before and it was July and we were tent camping. But we also got hooked on light houses. What a trip.
