allows you to transfer data and use wireless head sets... wirelessly.. to other cell phone or bluetooh enable electronics that work together.. not all bluetooh bowrk with each other and even in your can BMW can answer your phone if equiped and you answer using buttons on your steering wheel... and many things more

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology that allows a user to create a Personal Area Network (PAN). This is commonly used to send data signals to devices within a 10 meter or closer range. In the US, it's most popular use is to enable "hands-free" headsets for mobile phones that are bluetooth enabled, but in Asia and Europe especially, the adoption into other electronics far out paces that of the US.

The down side is that the chipset required for the transmitter & receiver is still failry expensive and large, plus, it's power management is poor, requiring large batteries and frequent recharging.

The product life of Bluetooth in the US is expected to be short, with mobile phones and car audio expected to be the largest portion of the sales, being rapidly replaced by wireless USB od other lowercost, plug and play technologies....

Bluetooth is a way that cell phones can "talk" to things like a headset or a computer without wires. Bluetooth enabled just means that the device is capable of using that specific technology.

blue tooth is a tech. that allows your cell phone communicate wire less with other devices, like a hand free head set, you can talk into this device, and the device communicates with your cell phone. just like your talkin on the phone, some head sets and phone just require one touch feature, like you press the button on the head set and your phone will ask what number or who you want to phone, its cool....
