Stephen King. However, Shyamalan is developing his style. He'll continue to evolve over time and improve just as King did. Let's face it, King has been writing and has lived longer than Shyamalan. But that's not to say that they are equals......yet.

Has to be M. Night Shaymalan because his stories are more provocative while some of Stephen King's are merely entertaining.

Stephen King and M. Night Shamalan to me are two different people. I love both of their works, but I prefer M. Night. I like the way he shoots the scenes, IE: camera angles.

M. Night all the way. I love the twists in his movies and he doesn't just use hack-and-slay horror to grip the audiences attention.

I've never been a huge Stephen King fan, never read a single book, but I have seen a few of his movies. When he listed the Incredibles as one of the top ten movies of that year I lost all interest in him - I hated that movie - worst Pixar/Disney film to date.

Oh you mean, "What's better: THIS completely different thing, or THIS completely different thing?"

Right. Needs specification.

M. Night Shyamalan and Stephen King (a movie-maker and an author, mind you...) are completely different story-tellers and go by different means to tell their stories becaus a movie has guidelines to follow to keep people interested, as does a book. You really can't compare them.
