From what I could find From the PA Laws and Regulations it is a minimum $25.00 fine for operating a vehicle with an open container of alcohol unless otherwise stated on the citation.

I don't see how being a passenger they can enforce any kind of infraction involving your driver's license since you were not the operator of the vehcle.

Read the back of your citation and mail in the fine or go to the district courthouse and request a hearing if you want to challenge any aspect of the citation. If you have the time to go to the courthouse the clerk should be able to answer your basic questions. Otherwise don't sweat it and pay your fine and count this as a lesson learned.

As always, consult a legal authority whenever you need clarification on such matters.

I'm in NC and I got one of those too. Be smart, get a lawyer. It's pricey but I ended up doing 24 hours of community service which is better than having a criminal record.
