I don't care that you can look up info or find opinions. I want to know what you get for asking. Why post a question that say hi, what's up, or 10 points to whoever does ______. What are you getting out of this?

I used to believe there were no "dumb" questions but after reading some of the ones here on YA I am really beginning to have my doubts! Some questions are quite good and thought out but for the most part they are really dumb questions! The same goes for many of the answers as well!
As to what you get, just points on YA and if you accumulate enough of them you get some recognition by the YA team....for what ever its worth...

my theory is that they just want to know that people out there pay attention to them..maybe to boost their self confidence. points are pretty stupid though. like..what can you do with them outside of Yahoo! Answers? -_-x but hey, people want more points, be my guest..i have better ways to spend my time than posting questions like that just to get people to "answer".

Email ~ they are getting people to pay attention to them and they get email alerting them that some one has answered the question.

1) They don't know the answer and want to know it,
2) They don't know the answer, but don't want to, so they bother other people asking, or
3) They know the answer, and are testing others.
