Hi.

Ok here is the issue. I know I need to get a suit at some point just incase, but up to now I have never needed one. I have a 4:30 wedding tommorrow that I'm going to with my gf and I was planing to wear the following:

-Very nice navy blue Ralph Lauren sportcoat
-Very nice pair of tan Nautica dress pants
-White RBM Shirt
-Very nice blue Nautica tie with gold and tan stripes
-Tan socks
-Florsheim Burgundy dress oxford shoes
-Burgundy dress belt.

My gf figured that I had a suite, but understood that I really have never had a need for one. She seems ok with what I'm wearing, but what do you women think.

We agreed that at some point later in the year we would go suit shopping for me since we will be going to events that I need one for.

I think what you are wearing sounds fine. Of course, women like their men to be in suits for these occassions (not sure what it is about a suit...), but what you are wearing is second best. So, don't sweat it.

I've been to weddings with dates that wore a sports coat and didn't feel weird about it all. And, seen other men wearing the same attire. No biggie. And, sounds like you have really good taste to boot.

Just relax and have a good time!

BTW, in regard to burgundy shoes - I don't think this matters. Just wear your best dress shoes. Black is best, but if your best pair is burgandy wear those. Of course, if you wear black shoes wear a black belt. And, don't know why you can't wear gold...

It sounds ok since you have nothing better to wear at this late date..BUT...
every man needs at least One suit in his closet to wear to: weddings, funerals, special events, job interviews
nothing sexier than a man in a black or midnight blue suit, crisp white shirt with french cuffs, gold cuff links, nice tie, black/navy socks and black dress shoes

That's sounds fine. Unless you're in the wedding, you don't need to wear a suit.

I think that sounds great! There's no need to be uncomfortably dressed up unless you're a groomsman.
