There are in fact, people who can tune in to the energies around them. There are those with telepathic abilities, psychic powers, etc. It can also be learned by anyone who can zone in on their center.
The power to heal can be acquired by learning how to harvest good energy and deliver (using palm) the energy to the ill-stricken spot.

I can't actually tell the future psychically, though given enough information I'm fairly good at predicting what might happen based on patterns of what happened in the past. I can't psychically tell you what color car you have or communicate telepathically (except rare times when I think someone's calling my name so I go see what they want and they say they were just about to call me). But when I do card readings, they're usually eerily accurate. They're a LOT easier to do for total strangers though, since with friends you tend to think the cards mean what you want them to mean. Yes I'm wrong sometimes, but each reading usually only has 1 or 2 parts out of 12 that are wrong or don't make sense at all.

As for professional psychics, all I can tell you is my personal opinion. I think John Edward is the real thing and Sylvia Brown(e?) is a fake. But most of them charge so much that I don't care how real they are, I'm not paying for a reading. :P

No one has ever been proven to have any precognitive powers in a serious laboratory setting. Yes, there are plenty of grants issued and many studies conducted in this area each and every year.

Nothing.

"Psychics" that you see on TV are often people who are able to "read" other people's emotions and feelings exceptionally well, and who know how to trust thier intuition. They don't have supernatural powers, and they definately do not commune with "spirits". Also, they are very often wrong in thier guesses, but they don't usually air that ; )

if they really knew the future, wouldn't they be racking up in Vegas, the Lotto, Football games, World Series......
i think some people are more in touch with the metaphysical world, they feel things more strongly, can read auras, and feel peoples emotions, if the feeling is strong enough to be out there......
but fortune tellers.....no way.
