This is actually a very complex question. There are several rather bogus reasons. First, throughout most of western history, many Christians believed that the Jews killed Jesus. This is NOT true; crucifixtion was solely a Roman form of execution. Then, people tend to fear (and hate) what is different from them. Throughout most of post-Roman European history, EVERYONE was Christian. Like 99.9% of them. The Jews were different, so when things went wrong, they blamed the Jews. For instance, when everyone started dying of Bubonic plague, they said the Jews poisoned the wells, but the Jews were dying of it too!

For the most part, Hitler managed to wipe out institutionalized anti-Semitism (the last thing he would have wanted, I'm sure) by horrifying the world so much that even the whisper of anti-semitism is roundly condemned. Today many people who disagree with Israels policy towards the Palestinians are mistakenly called anti-Semetic. Not liking a countrys policy and not liking the people themselves are 2 different things.

1. They are a highly visible minority that have had a lot of success over time: They were successful merchants, doctors, bankers and whatnot through the middle ages, and many are successful today as businessmen, and in the entertainment business.
2. They have been hated in the past, so there are significant cultural ideas about them (they are rich, cheaters, liars etc). Charges such as blood libel (that Jews use the blood of Christian children to make matza and other food) have been around since around 1115, and are still used today (especially in Muslim countries).
3. They claim an exclusive relationship to God (as do many other monotheist religions).
4. They are delibritly resistant to global trends, wishing instead to preserve their own heritage (this is why Hebrew is still well known amoungst Jews while many other ancient languages have died).
5. It is convienient. They are a perpetual scapegoat.

Democrat Representitive Cynthia McKinney's father, Georgia state legislator Billy McKinney, shared his version with an Atlanta television reporter on August 19, 2002, the night before she lost. The reporter had asked Billy McKinney about his daughter's use of a years-old, moth-balled endorsement from former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young. Such endorsements were worthless, the elder McKinney replied, because "Jews have bought everybody. Jews." In case the reporter didn't understand, he spelled the word: "J-E-W-S."

Because the Jews have long been the moral conscience of the world.

Entrepreneur, people hated Jews long before they were involved in money lending. They became involved in money lending because it was so restricted as to what jobs they were ALLOWED to hold.

You know it is hard to answer your question but I'll try to be simple. Christians hate (against Christ's teachings) them because they are accused of crucifying Jesus Christ. Muslims hate them because their book the Qura'an tells them that Jews are intense enemy to Islam. You remember what Hitler(Christian) had done to them. Now you remember what the Iranian president (Muslim) wants to do to the Jews. These are the followers of the three heavenly-claimed religions. (HATRED) is the common factor between them.

People (referring not to me, but to the past) hate the Jewish people because they were the money lenders and who do you avoid and/or hate the most? People that you owe money too. It also has to do with the fact that they were always viewed as different and different people are never fully accepted into the society they differ from.

Jealousy mostly. Taught to. It is always easier to blame others for your sucky life than it is to take responsibility for it yourself. What falls by the wayside is the fact that our Jewish brethren work hard for what they have and teach their children to do likewise.Peace
