Unfortunately, once you're on these lists, it's nearly impossible to be removed. Start over fresh with a new account and follow these rules to keep off of spam lists:
-Ask your friends/family to NOT send you "chain letters." You know those emails that are forwarded a million times, and contain jokes, funny videos, poems, promises that Outback Steakhouse and Disney or whoever will pay you for forwarding them along... well, even if YOU don't forward them back out, someone who got a copy when you did will forward it. Off goes the email with your address plainly visible for anyone to see! Including the spammers who start these bogus emails in the first place...
-If your friends simply cannot resist sending you this kind of email, ask them to put you as a BCC instead of a TO, so no one else can see your address
-Add some numbers in your email address to make it harder for a spammer to randomly guess. Janesmith@wherever.com will get more spam than Jane21smith@wherever.com
-Don't ever post your email address to web sites, even if you need a membership or account to get into these websites. Especially bulletin boards and newsgroups!
-Keep 2 accounts-- use one for "commercial" email like when you buy things online or sign up for email services (Travel deals, daily horoscope, email bulletins, etc), and one for personal correspondance.
-For "blatant" spam... do not ever, ever, ever (!!!) use the Unsubscribe button! This lets the spammers know you're there! They'll be glad to take you off their spam list... then add your address to 10 more!
-If you use Outlook or Outlook Express to read email, turn off HTML graphics in incoming email--- you can do this with some web mail services too. Spammers create their images in such a way that they're no longer part of your email--- they're actually stored on a computer somewhere else, and just display on your computer. When you open one of these, even if it's just in the preview pane, your computer accesses that remote server without your even knowing it. That lets the spammer know your address works, and now you're on even more lists!

Just because an email shows that it is from a Yahoo account doesn't mean that it actually is. Spammers are very accomplished programmers, and they can make something look like something else.
