What color should I dye my hair? I have lightish tan skin, dark brown hair with a reddish tint to it, and dark brown eyes. I want to go lighter but my hair stylist says that I can't do any blond in it because the hair color (from a box) that I’ve been using would make my hair fry if I went that light. Any ideas?

This is my first time getting my hair colored permanent. I don't want to go blond, just lighter. But I do want some light colored highlights. My stylist says I should do a lighter brown with caramel highlights. But I want some other suggestions.I don't want any wild colors like blue or pink, I just want to go lighter.

I think I agree with your stylist.

Personally, since I have dark brown eyes with an olive tone skin and natural blonde hair, I would have to say that what you may want to work up to is a strawberry blonde color. Most redheads have very light skin and green or blue eyes, but you must have naturally auburn hair like my sister who also has dark brown eyes. Why not let the current haircolor from a box wear off - about 2-3 months and then add some blonde highlights? If it fries your hair, trim the ends a bit. Blonde is always better, baby. I've been one since the day I was born (with very dark brown eyes, a rarity) and I could be nothing else.

look, maybe you should get a second opinion from a "real" hairdresser. I'm not a professional but i have been having my "blonde" hair done by a professional for 15 years now and they usually are correct in their opinions. but a second one is always recommended. i have 3 different colors of blond in my hair and it looks really natural. i think you need to have natural looking color. the light brown with Carmel sound beautiful. i suggest you get it done and remember, it's only color, you can always change it back. good luck!!! by the way before i went to a professional, i colored my own hair from a box and let me tell you, it fried my hair soooo bad!! before you have a professional color you hair, you might want to consider giving your hair a break for a month from color, heat, etc and get a deep conditioning treatment from your beautician once a week and DEFINITELY get a trim to cut off all the split ends. be prepared, it might take a few inches to get your hair healthy but it's really worth it. i know it cost a lot but maybe you could give up something Else in your life to have great looking hair. others WILL notice and be very jealous. you go girl!

Make an appt. at the beauty salon to get your hair frosted. That would keep your color and strands would be pulled through holes in a plastic cap on your head. You can choose a dark blond. That would look really cool.

If you have colored your hair recently I would suggest waiting a few months. Blond highlights would look nice with your red /auburn hair. I would be cautious about dying your hair at this time. Good Luck let me know how it turns out..

You should leave it alone. It naturally matches your skin tone and eye color already.

And besides, dark brown with a reddish tint is BEAUTIFUL, why would you want to change it?

You could try a semipermanent (lasts 24 shampoos) and make sure the color you pick looks good before deciding on highlights.

You could try a light reddish brown. Just buy it from the store, it won't hurt your hair.
