RED, but not just any red. A red on the magenta side is best because an orange red will muddy the purple.
and
BLUE, again not just any blue, it needs to be a good true blue, if its a blue green, again it will muddy the purple.
You are making a cool color so anything warm will blow it, stay on the cool side of the color wheel.

Purple is created by mixing red and blue. The tint depends on how much red and how much blue are mixed.

in artwork there are three primary colors: red, blue, and yellow. no matter how hard you try, you cannot make these colors with any other colors. just not possible. from these three colors you can make the secondary colors by mixing equal parts as below:
ORANGE: 1pt. yellow + 1 pt. red
PURPLE: 1pt. red + 1 pt. blue
GREEN: 1 pt. blue + 1 pt. yellow
from these you can make all the other colors that exist on earth.
black and white are shade and hue, not color, by the way.
and in technology, green is considered a primary, but in the real, physical world, it is not.
