i'm not sure if you like this answer but i feel as both dresses don't really fit the event -
the 1st dress is too shimmery plus the length, the color, and the ruffles will sure draw too much attention so i'm not sure if the bride would like it. but i like the dress though :)
the 2nd one, the colors are bold but the style isn't anything bold. it looks a bit boring to me.
i went a quick search of saks and found another dress that i think would look really cute and more appropriate for the event :

i like the floral prints on this dress since it's white so it really makes the flowers stand out. it's really bold and fun. and the sash is at the right place which will create the illusion that adding a few inches to your height as well as making your legs appear longer.
well that's just my opinion though. but just wear whatever that makes you feel good in ;] have fun!

As long it's for the reception and NOT the wedding itself - I'd say the second one is a great choice and right on trend with the bold color. It's got a great shilouette and the flowing fabric would be perfect for all the dancing you'll be doing.

Try to resist the temptation to wear the first dress. I agree with the ones that say that it is likened to a wedding dress. I LOVE the second dress better, anyway,....... the bold colours, the shape, it is an extremely attractive dress. Very sexy!! And flirtatious!

The first one looks too much like a wedding dress other than the length. Maybe in a different color.

if you want to meet a new guy short and flirty if you got a man or dont want one go for a nice bold color like purple,violit,black,blue,peach,or a tan dress

its not nice to be short and flirty for a wedding recption, bride should be made to feel spec. the bold colour is nicer.
