Your mind will always THINK.
Sometimes we just want to ignore those thoughts for awhile.
Sometimes the thoughts are annoying, even destructive in nature.
DO NOT pick a fight with your mind........try to avoid harsh control of it. Don't try to FORCE it to comply with your wishes.
Do you know WHY??
It's because the MIND is the darned thing that will be trying to control ITSELF. It's very tricky........VERY tricky. If you try to fight your mind with your mind.....you'll REALLY have some problems.
Just ignore it when it gets too "energetic". I did not suggest that you TRY to ignore it....that would be your mind, again, trying to ignore something.
I mean ignore it PROPERLY. Either do something physical and override the "circuits" with activity.....or you could learn meditation techniques to simply "watch" your mind spin around and around...while learning to place your REAL attention elsewhere.
Don't fight the mind.

The post before mine is excellent. Sometimes sitting in a comfortable place and letting all of your worries swim around and twist and turn, is a very good thing to do. If your thoughts are bothering you, getting rid of the thoughts is not an option, but approaching them in a more positive manner can quiet them significantly----so that they are hardly noticeable. Attachment to your thoughts and emotional response causes such a cloudy feeling (confussion). Letting go of such attachment and allowing things to flow in and out, as they are meant to, will ease your body and mind.

You might have a case of adult ADD. I, personally have adult ADD. It is very hard for me to consentrate, because my mind just becomes way over clouded with thoughts. Therefore I cannot consentrate on the important factors...It's hard, but you can manipulate your mind around it. I've done it without medication.

well i go outta room or near any window frm where i can see d sky.. i love talkin 2 d starrz.. i love releasing all ma neagative energy ova ther.. in day lyt too .. i kno thw sttrz ar there looking at me ..
maybe yud feel dat im weird..
