I've never heard of the "seven giants," but you might want to check out people like Mendel (genetic inheritance), Darwin (evolution), Hershey and Chase (DNA), Watson and Crick (DNA Structure), Hardy-Weinberg (population genetics) etc. They made huge contributions to the basics of biology.
