i think it is because the prosecutor refuses to put all is cards on the table--that causes the media to make more speculations regarding the facts, keeping it in the public eye.

I've been kicking this question around in my own head for awhile, and I just figure that the media wanted to sell more papers/ads/commercials. I think this story shouldn't have gone beyond Fox's "Around the World in 80 Seconds." Same thing goes for the Natalie Holloway case (that blond chic in Aruba). The thing is, though, is that it's a rape case with racial factors, socioeconomic factors, and a reputable college all thrown in to one story, and no member of the media in his or her right mind would give up that kind of a story.

Is it possible for a female to be raped when she strips in front of a group of men and gives lap dances? I can't wait until the truth comes out and she goes to jail!!! Those innocent boys will carry this with them all their lives. Has anyone checked records to see if the DA. had ever applied to attend Duke and didn't make it ?

The media does whatever it takes to make them money and somehow give them a since of self glorification. Truth and perspective have nothing to do with it. I recommend checking out Media Research Center at www.MRC.org. It's tremendously informative. I became a Charter Member for the $30.00 fee, and it is well worth it. You'll get concrete and ongoing information on the media's behavior and why you hear and see what you do from them. God Bless you.

It's political. It can be stretched out to take up more time and broken down into a variety of stories. People automatically take up a side based on race, class, gender, or morality issues and fuel the media frenzy. I think it's sad that the media controls so much of what people think.

So I guess all you morons think it was her fault that she was violated. I hope that stupid girl who answered before me doesnt ever have it happen to her because no matter what the case is it is wrong. This is the worst question ever. So many guys and one girl? Not saying that I totally believe her or anything but rape does happen. It even happens at the hands of the educated and rich white people. Get a grip!!!!!!!!!!!

first of all if the tables where turned wouldn't anybody be complaining if it was a white girl raped by black men it would be okay to blast it all on the news then some people need to get a grip and stop focusing on color if they did do it then i feel sorry for them because they may think that they are getting away with it but you can't be ugly to people and expect it to come back on you we all have to answer for own stuff at some point in time!!

I think it's because of the whole race thing. A few young white males rape a black woman. That sentence alone gets a lot of peoples' panties in a bunch.

Because the Da in the case has totally messed up the whole thing. I live in NC and the poor girl will never see the justice she deserves because of the lack of poor judgement of the DA,

"cause everybody jumped to the conclusion that that girl was gang raped by those guys.
If true thats a pretty bad thing to happen on such a famous campus like Duke.
Turns out that those guys may be innocent when alot of people had them convicted already.
