Niles Crane and Lilith Sternum Crane had slept together. Does anyone know the circumstances of how that happened?

Lilith makes a surprise visit to Seattle, and visits a surprised Frasier at KACL. She initially tells Frasier she is in Seattle for a conference, but she soon breaks down and tells Frasier that her husband has left her - for another man! Seeing how upset she is, Frasier invites her to join him and Niles at the Union Club that night. Joining his brother later in Cafe Nervosa, Frasier learns that Niles is suffering from bouts of narcolepsy, brought on by the stress of his divorce. Frasier also admits that he and Lilith have a destructive pattern that sees him fall for her whenever she is in need and they end up sleeping together.
At Frasier's apartment, Niles offers to help Frasier as soon as feels he is starting to weaken over Lilith - not helped by her wearing a rather revealing dress. Cut to a hotel room the next morning where we see Lilith in bed - with Niles! As the pair of them struggle to come to terms with the fact they just slept together, they are interrupted by Room Service, who has their breakfast. After he leaves, however, Frasier is knocking on their door ready to give himself up to Lilith......

I saw the episode but it was a few years ago now... Think it was the end of season 5? Niles had just left Maris and (from memory) Lilith had come back on the scene wanting Frasier back - he was with someone else at the time and rejected her for (yet another) love of his life. Lillith had also just found out that her then husband had been having an affair. I think they must have all been away somewhere because it happened in a hotel room and was an end of episode cliff-hanger. Hope this helps! I miss Frasier...

Yep. Niles and Lillith slept together.
Lillith's husband left her for a man, and she tried to turn to Frasier for comfort, but he kept his distance, thinking that their sleeping together would be unhealthy.
Niles and Maris had just broken up, and he was desolate. Seeing a "new" Lillith, with hair down, and a sexy, red, velvet dress, he ended up in a hotel room with her where they spent the night.
Next day, Frasier comes to the hotel to "give in" to Lillith, and finds them together. Whoops!

Yes they were getting married but Niles changed his mind
because he fell in love the the Brit.
