If you don't have a text message plan, it will cost you to both send and recieve messages. I have Verizon, and it is 10 cents per message. Verizon changed their price, it used to be cheaper to receive them, now they charge the same for sending and receiving. What a surprise.

It really depends on which company you're with. If you're on a Rogers plan then it costs $.15 to send and you can recieve up to 2500 messages free/mo.

If you are in the US, yes it costs you to receive text messages, unless you've signed up to a plan where you pay a monthly fee for a certain number or even unlimited text messages.

it depends on your carrier. Here in Canada, all carriers have unlimited incoming text messages (though in reality, for at least two of the companies we have here, it's only a maximum of 2500 incoming texts per month before they start chargin). In the U.S, however, they do like to get you goin' both ways, so usually yes you will be charged for text messages.

I know that w/o a specific add-on text messaging plan w/ Cingular, each time you send or receive texts is $0.10. However, check with you cellular company to find out.

Some Cell Phone services make you pay for incoming and outgoing text messages. It all depends.
