I live in Georgia, and would really enjoy assisting new mothers with breastfeeding. Do I need to find a school, or can I study through correspondence?

I know if you're already a nurse, you take some more classes, and then have to spend a certain number of hours assisting women with breastfeeding to become certified. And it's a ton of hours.
