Your doctor should have instructed you, as well as the directions saying that you should take a full 2 months supply before having unprotected sex.
And pills do NOT cause abortion.
Pills prevent the release of an egg therefore a pregnancy does not occur. There is no pregnancy to abort. Ignore that advice. Research online about ovulation practices... it is not very effective and also to be sure about your ovulation times (without human error and since each month CAN be different) you must pay for expensive ovulation kits for the practice to be as effective as pills.

Although birth control pills are fairly effective, because you're just starting, I would wait until the second month before relying on the pills alone, just in case.

They say about 10 days or so before it's "safe", but I'd wait a bit longer.. pills aren't always 100% (i have proof of that, lol)

I think to be 100% or really close to it, you have to wait 3 months.
Thats what I think. Maybe you can just use the calendar method for 3 months to be extra careful.
