I have Asperger syndrome (High Fuctioning Autism) and I am married, my husband does not have it. It can be really difficult sometimes, and I often wonder if two Aspies would do better together in a marriage. Anyone Aspie married to an NT (neuro typical person)?

I was diagnosed 2 years afterwe met, we are working through this together and are much better than we were, but I often wonder if 2 asperger people would fit better than an Aspie and NT.......I've never met any other married Aspie couple to know.

I am an aspie. My husband is bipolar. It is like the saying Water and Vinegar. We are opposites. I am logical he is emotional. He can not understand half the stuff I do and half the other stuff he does drives me nuts. It is defiantly a relationship that has to be worked at.

I have previously been in a relationship with another Aspie and there were some great advantages - for one I didn't have to explain half the stuff I did it was normal. But there were also some disadvantages such as I always had to step up and be the social person - that sucked.

Although there are advantages to Aspie/Aspie relationships I think that the best relationships are Aspie with someone who is Aspie Friendly (ie had a mother, brother, etc with Asperger's and understands)

For this marriage you need help and medical help too. You may also need marriage counseling to try and get through the problems together that this can cause. Is your husband happy being married to you or is this just you thinking this way? Did he know you had this problem when he married you? If he did then he needs to love you through this and be there for you no matter what.

I believe my husband does have Aspberger's Syndrome, and my middle son has been evaluated with such.

I can tell you I want out of this marriage so badly I would cut off my left hand so I couldn't wear a ring anymore. He frustrates me to no end and to think of being married to him for the rest of my life makes me so depressed and suicidal. Just his self absorbed nature alone is driving me mad, let alone his only interest, electronics.
