That is the question, to an extent (I would add the word "how" to the beginning of it). The amount of water on earth doesn't exaclty change. The level of the oceans, on the other hand, does get larger with the melting of the polar ice caps (thanks to Global Warming). We also have to worry about pollution entering our water supplies as well as the ecosystems that inhabit not only the fresh water on our planet, but also the saltwater too.

i think the real question is what would it take for us to change that ocean salt water into fresh water. The reason we are concerned is because out of all the water in the world only 7% is Freshwater (dont quote me on that but im pretty sure). And freshwater is what we are running low on. Sure We could melt the glaciers but that would cause major issues.

the amount of water on earth WILL change when the icebergs melt in the arctic regions of the world once global warming takes its toll on earth.theres no real way of telling when the fresh water will be gone... so i wouldnt really be worried about it until later
