I have DSL. Is that not connected in any way? I feel stupid asking these questions to people I know, so I ask people I'll never meet. Thanks for your help.

If you are running into memory problems and your computer freezes, there is a very good chance you have spyware on your computer. Get some anti-spyware programs (free) such as Ad-aware SE and spybot s&d. It's better to use more than one because each one finds something the other misses.

You can find them at www.download.com. Just put the names in the search box.

it's the computer, the computer can't handle all the processes at once, so it "freezes." Internet speed doesn't matter, unless you have 56K, then it freezes a lot because you try to open many processes and they take forever. It depends on the processor, the memory, etc. I have DSL and mine rarely freezes.

Computers freeze because there is not enough ram to run all of the stuff you're trying to run. your internet connection has nothing to do with it except for the freezing up of your internet connection.

computers process information in streams, sometimes if you have a broken processor or just a peice of crap the streams get mixed and the computer stops completely to fix the problem or else its trying too much to fix the problem that your computer cant run it. so its really good to run dual processors and then run Raid on them, i can almost gaurantee you your computer wouldnt freeze up.
