Because not many people want a hockey team around there. That is why they don't, but they do have a minor league team...so maybe someday they will get there

I guess that the NHL feels like they don't have enough of a fan base there for a franchise, but, if that's the case, then why does Atlanta have a team? It wouldn't surprise me, though, if they get one eventually, because the market's a growing one and there would be a heavy interest in a Houston/Dallas Stars rivalry.

Houston should be a consideration after Winnipeg, Quebec City, Halifax, Portland OR and Milwaukee.

And the owners of the Houston Texans originally wanted a hockey franchise there, but couldn't get it so they settled for an NFL team.

They do have a minor league team. The Houston Areos, but I don't think they would have the fan base for an NHL team.

the fans hardly support any pro team here so thats why the nhl won`t ever come here heck the oilers left only to be brought back as tyhe texans ( and are not doing very well fan wise) once the rockets wern`t champs anymore the fan base went down and the astros fans only show up for the playoffs and even then its not a sell out ............. houston is not a storts city

There's talk of a buyer for the Penguins who will move the team to Houston. And now that I know that they don't support their teams this makes me even sadder that the Penguins might be leaving Pittsburgh.

If there is going to be a new team in the league, I think Winnipeg will get it. One team in Texas is enough for a state that doesnt care about the sport

both houston and hartford had wha teams. hartford had an nhl team until pony-tailed jerk karmonos STOLE the whailers. i can only hope the that jerks' splt end-ponytail gets caught under a zamboni! if you recall, gordie, with sons mark and marty played with the aeros, in their wha days. BOTH HOUSTON AND HARTFORD DESERVE NHL TEAMS!
