I realize your question is an election question about the President, but really, most of the power lies with the Congress. The President, regardless of party affiliation, can not pass legislation. That is the duty of the Congress. The media reports that the President is raising this tax or cutting that tax....well, the Constitution specifically give the authority to write tax bills to the Congress. He can not do it. So in fact, the Congress is raising taxes or cutting taxes. The President either signs it or vetos it. The President can tell the American public what he thinks the "right direction" is, but without Congress, he will not be able to get his agenda through regardless of the party.

For the good of "we the people" both parties have got to learn to reach out. They both must realize and accept that majority rules while at the same time protecting minority rights. When the Republicans are the majority, the Democrats must accept it. And the same applies to the Republicans with the Democrats are in the majority. The gridlock and hostility serves nobody. When they utter the oaths they take when they take office, they should remember that they work for "we the people."

I hope who ever gets elected, Republican or Democrat, is actually competent and actually has some integrity and honor, and does what helps the U.S. instead of some crap hole 10000 miles away, in other words someone completely different from the current president. Republican or Democrat, as long as you get the job done right, and you don't screw up the country more than it is already, that should be good enough. No matter who wins, there will always be pouters and whiners.

This is my prediction. I think a moderate Rep will be elected. Someone like Giuliani or McCain. Both men are respected, both men are extremely moderate (McCain a little bit scary Dem at times), but I doubt that the Dems will be able to unify, formulate a plan of action, work together, or really do much of anything besides bicker, squabble, or criticize by then. Unfortunately, I think after 8 years of Rep leadership, I think unless we go with a moderate for the next election, the Dems will be able to vote in some schmuck like H. Clinton or Kerry despite the wandering listlessness of their party, and I think most Rep's know this. Just my opinion.

If a Republican is elected to the Presidency in '08, it will mean that not enough Democrats read the question about voting (is it important?). Fact is - the Democrats defeated themselves in '04 -simply by NOT going to the polls!

I am sorry to say we'll have a Liberal in '08 . It's a backlash for all the perceived losses the Dems took in '00 and '04. First we get their lies [I hear they claim to have 'been robbed twice'] and then they will get 'even' in spades, much like the damage and theft the Clinton's perpetrated to the White house in "00.

I don't think it will matter, as long as our leader as the best thoughts and ideas for our country. If a liberal is elected, I'm moving to Canada. Liberals have no respect for other people's opinions-no good for the leader of the free world.

Barnyard excrement, loubean, you whined all the time that Clinton was president, you still bring him up in your answers, and he did a great job of running the county.

I hope the most qualified person gets elected regardless of party and not the richest or most popular.

thats why those with the likes of you are called trolls. :)

Rather than expressing your dissent, you would support and 'hope' that she leads us in the right direction.

President's are human too and are more than apt to make mistakes, big ones.
