I think that it's too early to call him overrated much less underrated. When a star, any star player is given the torch to be the next great one, people should give them 2-3 years to prove it. A good example is Eric Lindros. Before he even stepped on the NHL ice, he was christened the next great one. Lindros, if not injured flashed signs of brilliance but we'll never really know because of the concussions. I think Crosby matured a lot in his first year and looks to be a stud. But give him some time before we truly rate him.

Depends what you read and base your "over rated" statement on. I think he is a phenomenal talent and if wasn't for Ovechkin, Crosby would have won the Calder Trophy hands down. He lead the Pens in scoring, all the while playing less ice time (for most part of the season) than Mario Lemieux, Zigmund Palffy, Mark Recchi and John LeClair. He also saw very limited penalty killing duty and was second line power play. Once Lemieux and Palffy retired and Recchi was traded, Crosby finally got first line status and resulting ice time and his production and confidence sky rocketed. Remember, he did all of this on an absolutely terrible team. Most youngsters would crumble under this kind of atmosphere. And with Evgeni Malkin coming in to play on Crosby's left side, watch for these two to become the Gretzky-Kurri combo for the next few years (ok, that may be putting some pressure on them, lol).

He is a good player. He had alot of pressure on him but living with Mario he was basically taught how to handle it. As to the one who says that Crosby isn't a team player I think yyou are confused. That is Alex that isn't, not putting the last name as I would likely misspell it.

Crosby is an awesome player. Have you ever watched one of the pens games? Im a BIG fan of the pens, and i know they are pretty bad, which didnt help Crosby any, BUT for the stuff that he did, it was truly awesome.

He is a very talented player and everyone looking to make a buck jumps on the bandwagon, The only thing is that I see him being more of an individual player rather than a team player.

He was deemed the next Gretzky and after one year has surprisingly lived up to a lot of the hype. I can't call him overrated yet. Give him some time to see if he's consistent.

I think he's way too overrated... it's because of him that I don't like the Pittsburgh Penguins.
