First of all, you are the most ignorant and closed minded person I have ever come across.
Secondly, what is your definition of far? 'Far' is relative to where you reside and how close the African continent is to you.
Third, if you would actually read and find out more about other countries, you would realise that all of Africa is not about wars and starvation. There are 53 countries in Africa and the western media chooses to focus on the 4 or so countries that are embroiled in war to show their ignorant citizens who do not know any better.
Fourth, it is because of ignorant bigots like you that is why FIFA has chosen to rotate the WC amongst continents so that your eyes and your mind can be open to the rest of the world instead of your little corner which you think is the whole world.

Yes, I am from a country in the African continent and I see this as an affront, but I should not, because you are an ignorant bigot who will probably turn out to be zenophobic as well.

P.S. This rant is for only the person who was unsensitive enough to ask this question. I know there are people in the west who actually venture out of their front doors and out of their countries.

I agree with everything Aryeebebe said. Dude you are a bigot and you need to learn about other countries and continents before you ever make an assumption about them. I mean Africa is a continent not a country. South Africa is a country.

South Africa bid for the World Cup a while ago and FIFA accepted the bid. And if the fact that the 2010 World Cup is being held in South Africa is news to you, this shows you don't even pay attention to football news.

Have you been to Africa at all?? I don't think you have otherwise you wouldn't be so judgmental. You are just being a bigot and thats it. Why shouldn't Africans host football?? They love it just as everyone else does. As for far...well...theres this thing called the airplane...
Aryeebebe, tell them how it is!!!

i don't think at this stage the safety issues have been worked out but it shows that African football is on the rise clearly the decision for africa to host it is to promote football in that nation and to encourage all involved to bring security, stadiums and above all quality of life back to the region think of the money the world cup will bring in for the african nation

South Africa isn't so bad. At least it's not in the Ivory Coast (or Cote d'ivore to be politically correct), or the Congo.

It should have been there this time, but thanks to vote tampering it wasn't. It's the world cup not the countries "ILoveHer" likes cup, so why shouldn't RSA been able to compete to host it. Japan and Korea were far away too, the seemed to have full stadiums for each match in 2002.
