You can break it up into genres if you wish (to keep from everyone picking a boy band)

And yes this has been asked, but it is an opinion poll and gives other people a chance to chime in

Okay, Britney Spears and Vanilla Ice are not "bands". Rap is not music- it is, as was stated above, offensive, masochistic, derogatory and ultimately useless.
Boy bands don't count, either because they are purely manufactured.
There were some bands in the seventies that really sucked. The most overrated was The Who. But the worst band at that time, with laughable lyrics and awful music was The Bay City Rollers.
Later, Foreigner really blew chunks with "awesome" titles like "Cold as Ice." It was the same song over and over again.
Air Supply also comes to mind. Talk about bubblegum!
The '80's were full of one-hit wonders, which I think made the eighties the best era in musical history. There was all kinds and not the same old same old like it is now.
Nowadays, the music is some kind of "alt" more gone astray. Everyone whines and I get tired of hearing it. Grow up already...there just ain't that much angst in the world. And if I saw that guy from Creed, I might just pull his hair out.

Anyone who has ever been on American Idol. Really. And I know they're not bands so let's make it the "worst artist ever." Complete media hype and no talent...

Brittney Spears is even worse. Her music is trite and I can't believe how much money she's made off of it.

If I have to stick to bands... those kids in Hansen should be ashamed of themselves for the overly commercial, sing-songy schlock they forced on the listening public. And all the versions of Van Halen after David Lee Roth left were a mockery of the rockstars the'd once been.

Any band with not enough talent to sing, so they resort to rap, otherwise know as garbage music. It's just about as far down the musical scale one can go. To go any lower you'd need hydraulic equipment and power tools.

Sorry to all of the fans out there... but I wish everything that Van Halen ever produced would spontaneously combust and be wiped from the earth.

No Doubt!! The answer is Mille Vanille. The band wasn't really even singing. They were lip-singing.
