If the squeaking is coming from the tire area, you could have worn brake pads and a "squealer" is touching the rotor to let you know it's time to check the brakes. When the brake calipers close, the squealer is flattened and no longer squeaks loudly.

It's your fan belt. It is wearing out and it needs to be replaced. When your belt begins to wear it stretches which creates space between the belt and your various pumps (water pump, power steering pump, A/C pump, etc.). As you increase your speed the belt will lose contact with the fan or water pump, depending on your car model, because it will be spinning faster than the belt. This what creates your squealing noise.

i would say a problem with your tranny/engine rather than brakes...hmmm. a real stumper...you had me thinkin real hard there for a minute

a loose belt......take it to a garage and have it checked out...some places may even do this for free

check your serp belt or fan belt
