Don't know where you read your history, but you need to go back over it. The US has poured tons of money and food into Haiti. Your own government stole most of it, and your people asked everyone NOT to help and specifically the US NOT to be there. Now you want to complain we didn't do anything? For shame on YOU!

Talk about hyperbole! The "official date" of US independence is July 4, 1776. The date Of Haitian independence is not officially until January 1,1804, this ended the thirteen years war. The only "revolution" that Haiti helped in the early US was slave revolts. The person who posted this should be ashamed not to have their facts straight. I have no problem with those who say shame on the US, but their reasoning has to be much better than this. The reason Haiti is poor is lack of adequate natural resources, political instability and the fact that Haiti was initially a french slave colony.

Im not the one who made the world what it is today
Im not the one who caused the problems started long ago
But now I deal with all the consequences that troubles our times
I carry on and never once have even questioned why
I am innocent, but there are people like you in other countries that put the weight of the world on our shoulders.
Were not the ones whose pollution balcked our skies
And ruined the streams
Were not the ones who made the nuclear bombs
That threaten our lives
Were not the ones who let the children starve in faraway lands
Were not the ones who made the streets unsafe to walk at night
And even if we try and not become so overwhelmed
And if we make some contribution to the plight we see
Still our descendents will inherit our mistakes of today
Theyll suffer just the same as we and never wonder why.
So instead of projecting all your problems on to someone else
Live your life the best you can
Create some answers to the problems that you see
Be more productive and leave your mark on this Earth.

I beg to differ with you but with attitude like this, why would US want to help? I'm not so sure that we aren't since we are forever giving billions of dollars to poor countries and countries in danger such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Africa, etc. Maybe you'd better check more carefully before you start accusing U.S. of not helping. We are always the first or one of the first to help in times of need. And a lot of these places have never repaid their debts.

This question only incites violence and arguements. To ask a question (or actually make a statement) in a forum such as this just shows the type of person you are. Yes many people feel that Americans are tyrants and only after money and I myself will not even waste my energy or patience to argue on these topics. All I will do is say this... If Americans are so mean and should be ashamed of theirselves then why oh why my not so subtle friend is so many nations in support of what we do? Why do we have the Greatest nation, The greatest military, and the GREATEST PEOPLE on the face of this earth? Why are we looked to to solve the worlds problems? If we are such tyrants then why does the rest of the worlds people fight to get here? Kinda makes you wonder.

Like mistercorntree said, this is compeletely inacurate. And I just hope you are not Haitian because I would feel ashamed if you were. The US was independant before Haiti and that is fact.
I believe that they would have gained their independance even if we didn't help them. And also I want to believe that the Haitians did not help the US only to get something from them in return of their help.

Are you criticizing the American citizens or the American government? I'm sorry that you feel that way but it is unfair to say that "americans should be ashamed of themselves" because you think that they aren't helping Haiti. I know of some American church-sponsored missionary trips and American church donations/fundraisers that go to Haiti.
