torque is the power expressed to pull a certain weight from a dead stop!! horsepower is the power expressed to pull that same weight a certain speed. torque is what causes your wheels to spin from a dead stop. HP is what you feel when you are moving @ 75 mph and you stomp the Accelerator. most trucks have more torque than horsepower because they are used to pull things. on the other hand a performance car usually has about the same or slightly more hp than torque for top end performance!!

horsepower is a measure of work over time. Torque is the amount of work the engine does.The time portion of the deal is how fast the torque can accelerate the crankshaft.

Horsepower is the pull of one horse on a buggy or cart. A real horse pulling a carriage.
