Where is the closet beautiful beach to Sacramento,CA.?

I am new to CA. and was looking forward to going to a real scenic beach. Like you see in movies or post cards. But being in Sacramento, I was hoping to find one not too far away. Do you know of a really beautiful beach in Northern Ca.?

I'd recommend taking a drive along Highway 1 for some of the most breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
